I’ve experienced only two ways that a business can work effectively: with a startup’s flexibility and agility, and with military-style hierarchy and control. These organizational modes work for small and large teams, respectively. The via media is as yet unapparent to me.
Don’t come to think you have definitive answers. Share experience, but cautiously. Leave room for others to do the same.
There are only two things that matter: people and technology. People need tools to do great things. Business is necessary, but secondary to those needs. Businesses that do not provide tools are not lasting businesses.
